112: Being a Human Feels Terrible Sometimes
Oct 25, 2022Being a human feels terrible sometimes. This goes for everyone, whether you’ve been cheating or not. So, it’s important to keep this in mind if you’re currently grappling with an infidelity situation and feeling, shall we say, rather challenged by it.
As a society, we don’t often acknowledge how awful it can feel to be a human, and all of the varying flavors that feeling terrible comes in. Even worse, we’re taught from a young age that feeling terrible means something is very wrong. But Dr. Marie Murphy is here today to explore the idea that nothing is wrong when you feel terrible: You’re just human.
Tune in this week to discover why being a human feels terrible sometimes. Dr. Marie Murphy is discussing why the traditionally prescribed intolerance of feeling awful isn’t actually helpful, why as a society we’ve never normalized feeling terrible, and how to deal with feeling uncomfortable emotions without making it a problem that needs to be immediately solved.
